- SYMPTOMS may include stiffness in the jaw, arms, legs and neck, headache,
- difficulty in swallowing and opening the jaw, a fixed smile and raised
- eyebrow may be produced by a spasm of facial muscles, sore throat, fever and
- may include convulsions.
- CAUSES. A break in the skin by a puncture wound (such as a nail, insect bite
- or a splinter) may allow soil and dust bacteria to enter & cause infection.
- TREATMENT. Almost constant nursing and intensive treatment will be required.
- .Medication to control muscle spasm, antibiotics and antitoxin prescribed.
- .Can be prevented with immunization.
